Fashion in my studio practice
Fashion has always been a huge source of inspiration for my art. The relationship between the body and identity influences my concepts in art-making. Explore my whimsical mixed-media fashion experiments that feature oil paintings on fabric, sewing, fabric manipulation, and upcycling. I often use trash found on my university’s campus to sew and create corsets and skirts, to catalyze conversations about the environment and both the fashion industry’s and my community’s impact on climate change. My minor is in Global & Political Economy and many of my courses have been focused on sustainability, business, and the geography of climate crises, reflecting my passion and expertise on the subject.
